Elland Road designs unveiled
Leeds United has released images showing the future design of the stadium, with plans settling on a capacity of around 53,000.
Designed by sports specialist architect KSS, the proposed increase in seats would make it the seventh largest stadium in the country.
The images follow on from Leeds City Council’s unanimous approval of regeneration plans for 30-acres of council-owned land around the stadium.
Plans for a larger stadium were outlined in September 2024, citing a need to increase the capacity from its current 37,645.
Owners 49ers Enterprises have employed a project team which alongside KSS includes structural engineers Buro Happold, and a management team at RISE.

The North and West stands will be expanded, along with changes to the South stand to provide improved corporate hospitality facilities and a better general admission entrance.
Plans for the enhanced grounds also include an area that will highlight the history of the stadium.
Enabling works for construction of the West stand, subject to planning, could start this calendar year, with the first phase of stadium development potentially completing by 2028.
The council will discuss the pre-application for the modernisation of Elland Road stadium at its meeting on Thursday, 8 May.
Fans and the local community can visit a public exhibition of the designs at the Centenary Pavilion at Elland Road, which will be open from Thursday 22 May to Friday 23 May, or one of two consultation events in Leeds:
- The Holbeck Club, Tuesday 13 May, from 5pm-8pm
- The Dragon Pub, Monday 19 May, from 5pm – 8pm
