EDGE adds health & social care director
Joining from Leeds Teaching Hospitals, Mike Bacon will have a national remit as he joins the multidisciplinary consultancy’s office in the city.
Representing 20% of the company’s income, health and social care is the largest sector EDGE supports, the firm said.
EDGE’s health team provides project management, cost management, building surveying, quality monitoring and advisory services to more than 60 individual NHS customers across the country, supporting the development of their estates to fit operational needs.
This healthcare profile covers backlog maintenance, RAAC (precast concrete), decarbonisation, refurbishment, conversion, and new-build schemes.
It also includes the delivery of several projects within the NHS’s New Hospital Programme, the National Rehabilitation Centre for Nottingham University Hospitals, the Cambridge Children’s Hospital, and a programme for Derbyshire Healthcare.
Bacon brings close to six years of experience as programme director for LTH’s £1.5bn New Hospital Programme scheme and the construction of the Centre for Laboratory Medicine – a new regional pathology laboratory serving West Yorkshire.
Over his career, he has worked with many other NHS trusts to deliver complex projects, including delivery of the Alder Hey Children’s Health Park.

EDGE now boasts more than 130 professionals working across offices in Nottingham, Sheffield, Birmingham, Leeds, London and Newcastle. Bacon will work primarily from Leeds, but with a national remit.
The firm’s specialists work across project management, cost management, building surveying and advisory disciplines. It has partnered with both public and private-sector organisations, including B&Q, Siemens, NHS, Aldi and the University of Leeds.
