Doncaster to approve 186 Balby homes
At its meeting next week the council is set to give the go-ahead to the scheme, which was originally submitted by Barratt Homes in 2022, but is now being developed by Metroland.
The wider project team includes planner Spawforths and Parker Peel Architectural.
Balby is around 4km south of Doncaster centre, and the 16-acre site sits south of Alverley Lane and west of Tickhill Road.
As well as the homes, the application is for water drainage infrastructure, vehicle access from Alverley Lane, garages, a pumping station, and public open space.
The houses are to be split between 143 homes for the private market and 43 designated as affordable, with that divided between reduced rent and reduced market price sale.
The housing mix will consist of bungalows, two-storey, and 2.5-storey homes, with semi-detached and detached designs.
Recommendation is for approval, subject to the usual S106 clause.
At the same meeting, the delayed decision on Stonebridge’s application for 150 homes on land north of Hatfield Lane in Barnaby Dun will be discussed.
The project was set for the green light at the beginning of June, but was deferred until this 1 July meeting to allow more time for consideration around how much the developer should contribute to educational resources.
The recommendation remains that the scheme should be approved.
