Danum Homes buys Market Weighton site
Land promoter Richborough has sold 19 acres with outline consent for 120 homes and an expected GDV of £50m.
The East Riding development will be 25% affordable, with the development also including including a foodstore, and commercial and community space.
As set out in the outline consent, the development is to have dedicated green space and pedestrian routes.
The site was split into two planning submissions, which were taken through the planning process by Richborough last year.
Danum Homes has acquired the full site, with completion secured within nine weeks of the initial heads of terms agreement.
Land consultancy Millea Group advised Danum.
Danum Homes is the open market residential arm of the Doncaster-based Danum Group, founded around 25 years ago. The group works across Yorkshire, Derbyshire, and Nottinghamshire.
Harry Jackson, regional manager at Richborough, said: “We’re thrilled to have appointed Danum Homes to bring forward this high-quality mixed-use land, delivering much-needed new places to live and employment opportunities.
“Our multidisciplinary team and consultants have worked extremely hard to design and secure planning permission for this scheme, after the land was allocated in the East Riding Local Plan for housing and employment development.”
Danum managing director Steve Mosby said: “This site gives Danum Homes the opportunity to showcase its ability to deliver both residential and commercial units to the market.
“We are always actively looking for new opportunities to complement our existing pipeline, providing the quality and amenity we are known for. We look forward to progressing this development and delivering exceptionally high-quality, sustainable homes for the East Riding of Yorkshire. This purchase has cemented our working relationship with Richborough and we are looking forward to doing many more deals together into the future.”

Any bungalows planned for the site? Dustinctly lacking in Market Weighton.

Please, no more houses or shops are needed in Market Weighton the ones we have got are not sufficiently supported by new people moving here purely for cheaper housing. MW has become a dormitory town with all recent housing estates. These properties do not benefit local people but people who are looking for cheaper accommodation from where they currently live, thus pushing up prices for the locals. I have lived in MW for 40 years and my daughter who was born here has had to move to another town because she cannot afford a
property in MW. All this development does not benefit the locals in any way it just stretches resources and services even further – the wait for a doctors appointment is around 2/4 weeks now whereas 3/4 years ago it was the same week. We have lost most of the doctors but the surgery just keeps taking on all the newcomers. Surely, increasing services and resources should be included along with the planning permission, not just green spaces for the kids to play in? The only people who benefit from these developments are the landowners, building
companies and outside house buyers.
