Cushman & Wakefield swoops on Colliers for Gorman

Mike Gorman will join the firm to lead residential capital markets activity across the UK’s core regional cities, based from the Leeds office.

Gorman will start with C&W later this year. A residential market specialist with 20 years’ experience, he is currently a director and head of Northern residential capital markets & development at Colliers, where he advised a range of clients including UK funds and institutions, property companies and overseas investors.

At Cushman & Wakefield, Gorman will have a particular focus on regional build-to-rent and single-family housing. He will primarily work from the firm’s Yorkshire & North East regional hub.

Mark Clegg, head of residential capital markets at Cushman & Wakefield, said: “While London remains the most popular choice for BtR investment, our latest investor data shows that market sentiment is shifting considerably.

“Major regional cities outside London, including Birmingham, Manchester, and Leeds, continue to set the pace for development and are establishing themselves as BtR hotspots.

“The continued growth of Single-Family Housing will be a focus for Mike, and his regional residential market knowledge will provide clients with the expertise required as they continue to focus their attention on investing and developing in the regions.”

Keith Hardman, regional managing partner for Yorkshire & the North East at Cushman & Wakefield, said: “I’m thrilled to welcome Mike to our team in Leeds. His addition to Cushman & Wakefield’s Residential Capital Markets team is against a backdrop of improving investor appetite, with upwards of £8.1bn earmarked for the BTR sector in 2024 and when average rental growth in regions outside London has outstripped growth in the capital.

“Continuing stability in build cost inflation and projected reductions in interest rates in the medium term bode well for future development and add to the appeal of the sector.”
