Consultation launched for South Bank resi
Bankfoot APAM is the latest operator to bring forward plans for the Leeds development hotspot, plotting 170 apartments at Zurich House, Water Lane.
Feedback is now invited online for the proposals, presented by development manager Bankfoot APAM on behalf of site owner, Guernsey-registered NPV Leeds.
With the office space now under-utilised, the intention is to demolish the property and replace it with new-build accommodation, in a building that will climb from nine to 11 storeys towards Water Lane.
The apartments in the scheme would range from studios to one, two and three-bedroom dwellings. All will be available to rent, and an affordable provision will be made, Bankfoot said.
Plans also include communal amenities for residents, as well as landscaping and a residents’ roof garden, plus sustainable design features, such as on-site renewables. The development will be car-free excluding accessible parking. Cycle parking will be included.
The plot since close to the Granary Wharf cluster, to the south of Leeds station.
Emily Myers, senior development manager for Bankfoot APAM, said: “We would encourage as many people as possible to take part in the consultation, to let us know what they think about the plans.
“We aim to provide high-quality new homes in Leeds to allow a broad mix of people to enjoy city living and all Leeds has to offer.”
Following the consultation process a planning application will be submitted to Leeds City Council. The developer hopes to start in 2025 on what is expected to be an 18-month build.
