Caddick appoints group head of ESG and sustainability
Jessica Herman will be based across Caddick, Moda, and Leeds Rhinos’ offices in Wetherby, Wakefield, Leeds, Manchester, Birmingham, and London, to deliver the firm’s ‘Places for Life’ strategy.
The strategy was launched in 2023.
Herman joins Caddick from sustainability consultancy JustOne UK where she was associate sustainability director. She has more than eight years of sustainability and real estate experience, having previously been senior sustainability advisor at JLL.
Herman will now focus on sustainability progress across all Caddick teams.
Her appointment coincides with the publication of Caddick’s Places for Life 2023 Impact Report, which sets out the company’s ESG progress following its first year of implementation, focusing on three key areas: communities, environment and business.
Caddick’s sustainability goals include becoming a net zero business by 2040, supporting social issues across local communities, and delivering developments that contribute to the local biodiversity and the wider circular economy.
Key achievements highlighted in the report include donating more that £300,000 to charities, training 212 apprentices, and investing in mental health campaigns.
Myles Hartley, managing director and ESG lead at Caddick, said: “As one of the largest privately-owned developers in the country, we want to not only give back to the local communities of today, but to also invest in the future generations by creating welcoming and sustainable places.”
Jessica Herman, head of ESG and sustainability at Caddick, added: “This newly created role will be a great opportunity to spearhead the Places for Life vision and support our wider purpose, while empowering our colleagues, communities and wider stakeholders to help achieve a positive impact at every stage.”
