Approval given for Barratt’s Halifax homes

Plans submitted by the developer for 75 homes on part of the West End Golf Club have been given the go-ahead by Calderdale Council.

The seven-acre plot of land is in the south-east corner of the golf club, currently occupied by two of the current 18-holes.

The housing mix will consist of 19 two-bed, 27 three-bed, and 29 four-bed homes, with 15 (20%) being affordable housing.

All of the affordable homes will be two-bed houses.

Designed by Parker Peel Architectural, the scheme is a revised version of a proposal for 88 houses, all of which were three or four bedroom properties.

The original scheme also resulted in the loss of an extensive number of trees, and failed to make enough provisions for pedestrians.

Further application details can be found in the council’s planning portal, with the reference: 24/00071/FUL. The proposals were approved by Calderdale’s planning committee on Tuesday 12 November.
