And finally… Yorkshire comes into bloom

RHS has chosen the recently restored Wentworth Woodhouse to host its inaugural Flower Show in the region.

Donald Insall completed the £5m refurbishment last April.

The show will display a range of themed gardens in keeping with Yorkshire, and will run from 16 -20 July 2025.

RHS Teenage Dirt Park is inspired by the young people of BMX Rotherham, and contains a central structure of dirt tracks for rollers and jumps, next to low maintenance meadow planting.

RHS Miner’s Garden is a nod to owners of Wentworth, the Fitzwilliam family, who once oversaw a mining community, and represents a time where miners and their families lived in tight-knit communities.

Meanwhile,  RHS Rhubarb by Candlelight will display pink and red plants under candlelight in an ode to West Yorkshire’s rhubarb industry – and randomly enough, the creaking sound that the vegetable makes when it grows will be recreated.

Many more gardens, pathways, and marquees will add to the overall horticultural extravaganza
