And finally… roll with it
The first major culinary milestone of the year has been achieved in Sheffield, and Barkers the Bakers is responsible.
Responding to a demand for joy in this most trying of months – as if January isn’t tough enough without storms, tornadoes and the rest buffeting us all to kingdom come – Barkers has come up wth the foot-long sausage roll.
Priced at a princely £2.50, the pastry treats were launched at the Barkers shop in Lowedges, proving such a success they were then – apologies for this – “rolled out” to the sister stores in Greenhill and Norton Lees, becoming a viral smash in the process.
Boss Darren Barker told the Sheffield Star that as long as demand is there, they’ll carry on making them, adding: “We always try to do something a bit different to keep things interesting for our customers, so we thought why not make the longest sausage roll in Sheffield and probably all of Yorkshire.”
Man deserves a medal.
