And finally… far from run of the mill
Hats off to East Riding Leisure Beverley, which has opened what it reckons is the first outdoor gym and fitness facility of its kind in the North of England: The Mill.
The Mill is now up and running (sorry), offering a mix of weights, cardio and training facilities. It also hosts outdoor classes.
Equipment includes squat racks, pull up bars, and rigging for accessories, such as battle ropes, bars/weights, slam balls, dog sleds, kettlebells, and plyo boxes, which seem to be for jumping, dips and so on.
All this seems eminently sensible: traditional gyms, even the more affordable ones, often feel intimidating and inaccessible to many, so literally bringing things out in the open has to help.
Cllr Nick Coultish, cabinet member for culture, leisure and tourism at East Riding of Yorkshire Council, said: “What an amazing fitness facility! The Mill is now available to East Riding Leisure members and non-members, as well as external organisations, sports clubs and groups, and the wider community.
“The Mill is a superb addition to what we offer at East Riding Leisure Beverley and I am absolutely delighted that we have been able to work with BeaverFit and Indigo Fitness to provide this wonderful new facility.”
The new site, which is partly set under a canopy, is for use all-year-round. Excellent stuff – after you on that plyo box.
